PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT – LAUNCH OF THE NEW BIOMETRIC PASSPORT

The Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Lusaka, Zambia and Malawi, has the pleasure to inform the public of the official launch of new biometric passports in three categories:

  • Ordinary Passport – Blue cover, 36 visa pages

  • Diplomatic Passport – Red cover, 40 visa pages

  • Service Passport – Green cover, 40 visa pages

Each passport is identifiable by:

  • Cover designation indicating the passport type

  • The passport category printed on page 1

  • A serial number prefix:

    • “P” for Ordinary passports

    • “DP” for Diplomatic passports

    • “SP” for Service passports

All passports include a contactless RFID chip, compliant with ICAO Document 9303, built to ISO standards, and protected by (BAC) and (SAC) protocols.

Note: Existing passports previously issued by the DRC remain valid until their expiry date.
